The purpose of the “Kidz Art Contest” is to educate students of the Cajun and Creole culture while making it interesting and fun. The Desoto Arts Council in Hernando, MS will judge the Kidz Art Contest selecting the winner.
Because the Creole Crawfish Festival primarily draws attendance from the mid-south, with musicians coming from Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee to perform, the Kidz Art Contest with its broad appeal is open to all students. As part of the criteria, subject should be related to Cajun or Creole culture (i.e. samples of past art; simulations of Blue Dog, crawfish musicians, zydeco dancers, accordion musical instruments, pot of gumbo, picturesque swamp scenes, etc.).
The following criteria is important for participants.








Kidz Art Contest
- All Schools are invited to participate.
- Art Contest deadline is on or before Jan. 29, 2010.
- Subject should be related to Cajun or Creole culture.
- Artwork must accompany 1/2 page paragraph about Cajun or Creole culture.
- Paper size should be 8.5" x 11" only
- Artwork may be in color or black and white
- Winning artwork will be used for advertising Creole Crawfish Festival
- All artwork will be on display at Creole Crawfish Festival April 16 & 17
- Teacher to call when artwork is ready for pickup - 901.619.5865
- DeSoto Arts Council to judge winning artwork followed by Kidz Art Reception with refreshments and music
